Our Team

Frequently Asked Questions

What kinds of therapists and specialties are on your team?

Our team includes licensed mental health professionals—such as LMHC, LISW, LMFT, and provisionally licensed clinicians—along with EMDR-trained therapists and interns. Across our Des Moines–area offices, you’ll find providers who specialize in trauma, EMDR, anxiety, depression, identity and life transitions, relationships, grief, and more, so you can choose someone whose training fits your needs.

Do you work with children, teens, adults, couples, and families?

Yes. MOSAIC Family Counseling Center offers therapy across the lifespan, including children, adolescents, and adults, as well as couples and family counseling. You can use the Our Team page to look for therapists who name your age group or relationship focus in their bio and request to work with someone who is experienced with concerns like yours.

Do you offer trauma therapy and EMDR?

Yes. Many MFCC therapists have advanced training in trauma-focused care, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based treatment for posttraumatic stress and other trauma-related symptoms. If you’re interested in EMDR or trauma therapy, look for “EMDR” or “trauma” in a therapist’s bio or mention it when you contact us so our team can help match you with the right provider.

How do I choose the right therapist at MOSAIC Family Counseling Center?

Start by thinking about what you want help with—such as trauma, anxiety, depression, identity, relationships, or life transitions—and then read through our therapists’ bios to see who lists those specialties. You can also consider preferences like therapist gender, language, cultural background, or approach. If you’re still unsure, our How to Choose a Therapist guide and our intake team can help you narrow options and connect with someone who feels like a good fit.

Do MOSAIC Family Counseling Center therapists offer both in-person and online (telehealth) sessions?

Most MOSAIC Family Counseling Center therapists offer both in-person sessions at our Central Iowa offices and secure online telehealth appointments, depending on your needs and your therapist’s schedule. When you contact us or book, you can ask which formats are available with a particular provider so you can choose what works best for you.

Do you have low-fee or sliding-scale options?

Yes. Through our intern program, MOSAIC Family Counseling Center offers low-fee counseling services for qualifying clients, which can be a good option if you are uninsured or underinsured. Our administrative team can help you understand current low-fee availability, insurance options, and costs before you commit to ongoing therapy.

Where are your therapists located?

MOSAIC Family Counseling Center therapists provide care throughout Central Iowa, with offices in Urbandale, West Des Moines, Indianola, Marshalltown, and Perry. Many providers also offer online telehealth sessions, so you can access care from home when appropriate, while still being connected to a local, community-based counseling center. See our contact page.
