Jeremy is accepting clients in the Urbandale Office.
Jeremy (he/him) is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (temporary) who earned a Master of Science from Capella University, graduating with distinction in December 2025. Prior to becoming licensed, he spent 11 months as an intern therapist at Mosaic Family Counseling Center while concurrently working as a medical case manager serving people living with HIV.
Jeremy’s clinical approach is warm, patient, and highly collaborative, prioritizing his clients’ agency as they work together to create new perspectives and possibilities for mutual transformation. He deeply values clients' strengths, knowledge, and experience, recognizing that each person has a unique story to tell that cannot be adequately captured by a clinical diagnosis. Jeremy is also highly respectful of client privacy; each person who enters his office is free to share what they feel comfortable revealing and hold back what they wish.
Jeremy’s clinical interests include anxiety, depression, grief and loss, parenting concerns, relational and sexual concerns, LGBTQIA issues, HIV/AIDS-related concerns, and ethical non-monogamy. He is especially interested in helping folks with a history of religious trauma and others who come from high-control backgrounds.
Jeremy is an Iowa native who spent some time away and now lives in the Des Moines metro area with his partner, their child, and their two sweet senior kitties. From 2012 to 2024, he lived and worked in California as a Swiss-certified watchmaker. His non-clinical interests include music, books, visual art, horology, yoga, tabletop games, hiking, and birding.

Jeremy’s approach to therapy is collaborative, affirming, and rooted in deep respect for each client’s lived experience. He believes that clients bring valuable knowledge, insight, and strength into the therapeutic space, and he partners with them to explore new possibilities for growth and healing. Drawing from systems theory, narrative therapy, and strength-based practices, Jeremy works to create a space where clients feel safe, empowered, and supported as they navigate challenges and reimagine their personal stories. Whether working with individuals, couples, or families, he places a strong emphasis on mutual transformation and the healing power of authentic connection.
It is important to me to help those affected by adverse experiences related to spirituality, navigated the complexities of belief, identity, and belonging, I hold deep respect for the powerful role that culture, spirituality, and community play in shaping who we are. I welcome conversations around faith—whether it's something you're questioning, reconnecting with, or healing from. I’m especially passionate about supporting individuals who have experienced religious trauma or have come from high-control religious environments. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe to explore your values, experiences, and identity without fear of judgment. I approach therapy with cultural humility and a holistic lens, honoring the full context of your story—mind, body, spirit, and history.
I provide traditional ongoing therapy sessions that are typically 50–55 minutes in length, these sessions are scheduled weekly, bi-weekly or as often as scheduling allows and is needed.

I offer limited evening and weekend therapy session, by appointment only.
As a marriage and family therapist, I specialize in helping couples and families strengthen communication, navigate conflict, and build more connected and supportive relationships. My work is grounded in systems theory, meaning I look at the patterns and dynamics within relationships, not just individual behaviors. Whether you're rebuilding trust, exploring shared values, or navigating transitions, I offer a collaborative, respectful space where all voices are heard and valued.
What sets me apart is the combination of life experience, clinical training, and a deep commitment to inclusive, affirming care. Before becoming a therapist, I spent over a decade as a Swiss-certified watchmaker—an experience that honed my patience, precision, and attention to detail, all of which now serve me well in clinical work. I bring warmth, curiosity, and a steady presence to the therapy room. I’m especially passionate about supporting LGBTQ+ clients, individuals living with HIV, and those healing from religious trauma or experiences in high-control religious environments. My goal is to co-create a space where clients feel deeply respected, never judged, and empowered to heal on their own terms.
Grief comes in many forms, from the loss of a loved one to the loss of identity, community, or belief systems. I provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space for clients to process their grief in ways that feel authentic to them. Together, we can explore the emotional impact of loss, build tools for coping, and move toward healing with compassion and intention.
I meet you where you are and develop a comprehensive plan that suits your goals. Using known methods, best practices and evidence based therapies, I teach, provide skills, remind you of your resilience & strengths, become curious, consult, counsel and provide therapy for symptoms that interfere with your happiness and day to day life.
Our first session is a chance to begin getting to know each other and to create a foundation of safety and understanding. We’ll start by reviewing the service agreement, informed consent, and other important information about your rights and confidentiality.
After that, we’ll begin a comprehensive assessment to better understand your needs, strengths, and goals. This process helps us clarify what’s been happening in your life and how I can best support you moving forward.
Although the assessment will have some structure, you are welcome to share at your own pace — there’s no rush. The goal of this first meeting is to start building a collaborative partnership focused on your healing and growth.
No, Jeremy does not yet offer EMDR therapy.
Whether you're starting therapy for the first time or returning to deepen your healing, we're here for you.
