Group Therapy Services

MFCC is known in the community for providing a comprehensive DBT program that assists individuals who experience high emotional intensity in living a more balanced emotional life. Group therapy in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) offers a structured, skills-based environment where participants learn and practice core DBT modules: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.

We provide group care for Adults, Adolescents & Parents

Adults STEPPS Group

Through programs like STEPPS (Systems Training for Emotional Predictability and Problem Solving), developed by Drs. Donald Black and Nancee Blum, participants receive additional tools to better understand and manage emotional responses. The group setting fosters connection, accountability, and validation, allowing clients to build emotional resilience and experience meaningful progress through shared learning and support.

Rooted in Resilience - Adolescent EMDR & DBT Integration Group

MFCC also offers a specialized adolescent group that integrates core DBT principles with the transformative work of EMDR. Developed by Kenya Rocha LMHC and John Roarick LISW, this 12-week curriculum is designed specifically for adolescents who have experienced trauma and exhibit symptoms of emotional intensity. By combining phase 2 EMDR resourcing with emotional education and experiential activities, the program helps participants reinterpret emotional responses as meaningful information and equips them with tools to manage their needs more effectively. In a time when peer connection is increasingly disrupted, this group provides a safe and supportive environment that fosters healthy vulnerability, emotional growth, and meaningful social interaction

Rooted in Resilience - Parent Partner Group

MFCC’s Parent Partner Group is designed to support the caregivers of adolescents participating in our trauma-informed DBT + EMDR program. This group helps parents better understand the origins of their teen’s emotional and behavioral symptoms, while offering practical tools to improve communication and strengthen relationships at home. Parents learn effective ways to support their teen’s growth and healing, both emotionally and behaviorally, across home, school, and social environments. By increasing insight and connection, the group empowers caregivers to become active, informed partners in their teen’s progress. Parents come at specific times and days and participates in their own group while the adolescent is in theirs and they are combined a few times during the program to celebrate successes.
