Taylor Hovey

Therapy Intern

Taylor is an aspiring therapist who is in the process of receiving her Master’s degree in mental health counseling from Drake University and is expected to graduate in May of 2022. Taylor received her Bachelor of Science in Human Services and Psychology with a minor in sociology from Grand View University. She is a member of the Alpha Chi, Phi Eta Sigma, and the National Organization for Human Services Honor Societies. She is also trained in EMDR and Mentors in Violence Prevention.

Taylor has years of experience working in environments that support children and teens as well as provide resources for their parents, guardians, and families. She also has experience in working with individuals and families with substance abuse and addiction. Taylor helps individuals, children, and families to form necessary coping skills to work through life’s challenges, create and maintain healthy relationships, increase resilience, and foster growth, joy, and creativity. Taylor also enjoys working with those who struggle with stress, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and OCD. She understands and validates both the struggles life brings and emotions that go with them all while maintaining an empathetic and warm approach to establish and maintain rapport.

Taylor is passionate about working from a family systems perspective as our first families, the order in which we were born, and our upbringings help transform us into who we are and can have a large impact on our lives, psychosocial health, and relationships today. Taylor enjoys working with children, teens, individuals, and families. Taylor works alongside her clients to support them in moving toward healing, growth, healthy relationships and fulfilling lives through a trauma-informed lens and strengths-based approach.

As part of MFCC's internship program, Taylor accepts clients without insurance for a low fee.
